CPC Logistics Safety Supervisor Jack Ewing is shining a spotlight on the hard work and dedication of Calvin Perkins, a CPC driver based in Hamilton, Ohio.
Calvin came to work for CPC Logistics in 2019 when the fleet for a large consumer packaged goods company was first established. Calvin’s career as a truck driver began when he received his CDL in 2000. Since then, he has gained 25 years of experience working in Texas hauling drill pipes to oil fields and in Florida in the septic and construction industries.
Calvin says that his experience with CPC Logistics and the large consumer packaged goods company has been the best job he has ever had. He hopes that his job at CPC will be a long, rewarding one, and he hopes to be able to retire from the company when the time is right.
As his safety supervisor, I have watched Calvin consistently show his desire to do well and be an attentive and proactive driver. His safety scores are always in the low numbers—if not in the 0 range. Calvin has gone through multiple schedule changes in the last five years because of the fast growth that the fleet he works with has experienced. Despite that, he always performs his responsibilities very well and without complaint.
When Calvin is not behind the wheel, he is falling out of a perfectly good airplane because he enjoys skydiving in his free time. I guess that is why he doesn’t have any issues with traffic on the roadways. He would like to get his wife Dawn involved in his skydiving activities, but from what Calvin has stated, that may not be possible.
Calvin has been instrumental in his role with CPC Logistics and the large consumer packaged goods company. Every day he arrives on time and performs his duties in a responsible, efficient manner. Calvin consistently has safety in mind when he enters the truck, and his attitude toward his job and the company reflects that.
