To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we are sharing the love by highlighting the stories of a few CPC couples from across the country.
Ray & Kelly Miles
A division manager at CPC for 16 years, Ray Miles met his wife Kelly in 2008 when they crossed paths as regional managers traveling and doing business in the Western region.
“We kept running into each other in the hotels and restaurants in our division,” said Kelly. “We hit it off immediately. Funny enough, our relationship began by comparing who had the most airline and hotel points.”
Ray relocated from Sacramento, California, to Las Vegas to be closer to Kelly, and the couple married in 2010.
After briefly working as a regional assistant for CPC in 2013, Kelly now serves as the Employee Experience Program and Western Division recruiting manager.
“Working together is always a fun adventure,” said Kelly. “We make a good team and have skill sets that complement each other. It also helps that Ray’s home office is the furthest point in the house from my office.”
Ray and Kelly have two dogs, Rufus and Wilson, and two grandchildren from Ray’s children.
“We are both extremely grateful that we have the opportunity to do what we love for a wonderful company like CPC Logistics,” said Kelly.
Rick & Trina Weiher
Rick and Trina Weiher met while working at Homer’s Bar and Grill in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was a part-time waiter, and he served as a barback and security guard.
“He asked me out a few times, but I played hard to get,” Trina said. “After the third time, I agreed to go to dinner. We went to an upscale Italian restaurant called Spezia, and that was that!”
The couple dated for four years before getting married in 2005. Now the regional manager in Dallas, Rick worked with CPC customer Bimbo Bakery in Sioux Falls for more than four years before relocating to Texas in October 2018. Trina joined CPC in May 2019 as a regional assistant and is now a recruiter out of CPC’s Dallas office.
The couple has five children, four granddaughters and two grandsons.
Linnette Torres & Mark Echevarria
Mark Echevarria and Linnette Torres met 20 years ago while working in transportation and production for Panera Bread.
“It was shortly after Hurricane Charlie hit Florida when we started talking more and became friends,” Linnette said. “We started dating just a few months later. I still remember when he introduced me to his mother when we were still ‘just friends,’ and he told her, ‘She is going to be my wife one day.’”
True to Mark’s statement, the couple married in 2008 a few years after Mark joined CPC Logistics as regional manager in Orlando, Florida. It wasn’t until 2015 that Linnette became regional assistant alongside Mark. As of September 2022, she now serves as the senior manager of recruiting in the Orlando office.
“We enjoy working for CPC,” said Linnette. “It can be challenging when we both have to travel, but we always work around each other’s schedules.”
Mark and Linette have three daughters and will celebrate their 15-year anniversary this May.
Don & Brenda Stewart
CPC driving team Don and Brenda Stewart met when Brenda moved to Don’s hometown, a rural farming community in Iowa.
“We met through mutual friends and found out we had a lot in common,” said Don. “We both like modern jazz and artists such as Ross Freedman, the Allman Brothers and Craig Chaquico.”
The couple planned to get married after harvest season in early December 1977 only to have an ice storm hit that very week, making for a very memorable wedding.
In the early 1980s, Don left farming and took up trucking for Goodwill. It wasn’t long before Brenda joined him on the road, and they became a driving team. They have been driving together for 32 years, 18 of which have been in service to John Deere through CPC.
“We settled into a routine with me driving days and her driving nights,” Don said.
