On December 5, four CPC Logistics truck drivers assigned to Walgreens in the Northeast hit the road to help deliver two truckloads of wreaths on behalf of Wreaths Across America, a nonprofit organization that remembers fallen U.S. veterans, honors those who serve, and teaches the next generation the value of freedom through wreath-laying ceremonies.
This is the sixth year CPC has worked with Walgreens to provide drivers for Wreaths Across America Day held annually in December. This year on December 17, nearly 257,000 sponsored wreaths will be delivered to more than 3,500 participating locations across the country, including Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
“CPC is proud of its ongoing involvement in Wreaths Across America,” said CPC Vice President of Operations and Safety Dan Most. “A significant portion of CPC truck drivers are veterans or have a family member that served or actively serves in the military. It’s an honor to be able to give back and honor our troops in this way.”
Wreaths Across America’s mission touches the lives of thousands of schools, scout, civic and religious groups across the country that help ensure the organization reaches its goal to place a wreath on each hero’s grave. With such an excellent mission, it is easy for CPC to find drivers who are eager to make the cross-country haul.
“One of the perks many of CPC’s professional drivers enjoy is being home every night,” Most said. “Drivers don’t typically like to be away on overnight trips, but for Wreaths Across America, we never have to ask for them. There is a waiting list of drivers who are willing and wanting to take part.”
This year, CPC driving teams picked up their loads of wreaths in Maine and were assigned to deliver them to cemeteries throughout Texas and Wyoming in time for the National Wreaths Across America Day ceremonies.
