HR Generalist Job St Louis Missouri

Position Overview:

The Human Resources Generalist will act in a HR support role in direct coordination with the Group Benefits Manager and is responsible for administering and managing employee leaves per applicable law and policy, assisting with employee benefits administration, handling general HR and personnel data entry, assisting with planning and implementation of company policies, and serving as a general HR support role for our managers and employees.  This role may evolve to include other duties and responsibilities that are usual and customary for an HR Generalist.

Compensation/Benefits:

  • This is an exempt salaried position earning $80,000 per year with full benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision/life/AD&D insurance, participation in company 401K Plan with company match.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Assist with administering leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal, state, and local employment laws (Workers Compensation, FMLA, ESST, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.), including coordination of continued benefits with benefits department.
  • Assist employees with benefits questions regarding medical benefit continuation, disability and life insurance eligibility, including completing and filing state disability and family leave forms for employee leave entitlements.
  • Assist in reporting, documenting and investigating employee grievance claims and other work investigations as needed, including coordination with company legal counsel.
  • Perform data entry and personnel functions for employee records in company data systems, including new hires, terminations and other status changes.
  • Handle annual employee census and payroll data reporting in coordination with payroll department.
  • Administering and coordinating disability and life insurance programs with benefits department and vendors, updating enrollment and census data, and assisting accounting department with processing vendor invoices.
  • Provide support in creating, distributing and administering company employment policies and procedures, handbooks and benefit guides.
  • Support management team in providing HR guidance when appropriate and other duties as may be assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED required, but preferred Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated HR experience. SHRM or PHR certification preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, ADA, ESST, and ERISA.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
