Isaac Harmon, Director of Safety for CPC Logistics, was featured in a Truckinginfo article titled “Don’t Fear the Blitz: How Truckers Can Own CVSA’s International Roadcheck” and a video about what fleets and truck drivers can do to prepare.
The 2025 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) International Roadcheck, scheduled for May 13-15, will focus on drivers’ record of duty status (RODS) and vehicle tires. According to Isaac, performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections will help ensure drivers pass.
“The best thing they can do for equipment issues is really be meticulous about your equipment,” Isaac explained to Truckinginfo. “Doing extra thorough pre-trips… Not skimping on anything, and getting that stuff written up. And if it needs to be repaired, getting it to the shop as soon as possible.”
Isaac said that some things such as small lights that are not functioning properly can easily be overlooked during pre- and post-trip inspections. He recommends that drivers walk around their trucks when they stop for fuel or food to ensure everything is in working order.
“The big things are easy to catch,” Isaac told Truckinginfo. “It’s just the little, minute things that sometimes can be overlooked because they can be taken for granted.”
Isaac offered a few tips to help drivers remain in compliance with hours-of-service (HOS) regulations. He said drivers should review their logs for accuracy every day and know where the instructions for transferring their electronic log records to law enforcement are located inside the cab.
While this year’s Roadcheck places special emphasis on RODS and tires, Isaac reminds drivers that the inspection is a 37-step procedure that examines the driver and the vehicle.
“The focus items just mean inspectors may take a closer look at them,” Isaac said to Truckinginfo. “But they still look at everything.”
