At the end of August, CPC Logistics hosted a two-day Safety Summit in St. Louis for 25 dedicated safety professionals with more than 600 years of combined trucking industry experience. Along with additional CPC operations and safety leadership team members, the group came together to share insights, strengthen connections and focus on building an even stronger safety culture.

A Unique Model in Safety Leadership
The depth and breadth of our dedicated safety supervisors and managers makes CPC’s approach to safety especially unique. In most fleets, safety oversight is managed by a single individual, and that person does not usually have direct, extensive truck driving experience. CPC’s safety professionals bring decades of real-world driving knowledge to their roles, giving them a perspective that resonates with drivers and customers alike. This uncommon structure ensures CPC’s safety program is not only compliant, but also deeply practical, empathetic and effective.
Day One: Safety Leadership and Innovation
The first full day of the Safety Summit began with opening remarks from Isaac Harmon, Director of Safety, and a keynote address from Dan Most, Chief Operating Officer, highlighting the critical importance of safety to CPC’s customers.
Participants then engaged in a series of presentations on topics ranging from Totality of Safety and Building the Safety Culture to Compliance, New Hire Touches, and Cameras and Coaching. CPC’s legal team provided insights on each topic, reinforcing CPC’s proactive stance on accident investigation and regulatory adherence.
In the afternoon, attendees enjoyed a guided tour of CPC’s corporate headquarters and met with leadership. The day ended with a networking dinner followed by an evening social at The District, an entertainment destination near CPC headquarters.

Day Two: Practical Tools and Takeaways
The second day began with breakfast and continued with a presentation on Teaching and Guiding Safety Leadership by Senior Safety Manager Leroy Hulse Jr. and a demonstration of CPC’s Risk Assessment Tool from Safety Manager Max Clary.
A collaborative roundtable discussion, “Empowering Supervisors,” allowed participants to share experiences and actionable strategies to support front-line leadership. The event closed with a State of the Company address, reinforcing CPC’s ongoing commitment to safety and excellence across operations.

A Shared Commitment to Safety
More than a meeting, the CPC Safety Summit was a celebration of the expertise, dedication and collaboration that define our safety culture. With hundreds of years of combined knowledge, safety leaders walked away with new tools, actionable ideas and a renewed commitment to serving our drivers, customers and communities.
