For the eleventh year, CPC Logistics Canada customer John Deere Canada was honored as one of Canada’s safest private fleets at the 2024 Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC) Conference held June 18-20 at Niagara Falls Convention Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
“We are most proud of our consistency,” said Matt Carr, CPC Vice President of Canadian Operations. “CPC Logistics Canada has supported John Deere Canada and its safety mission every year that it has earned this award, and that says a lot about our team, from the drivers behind the wheel to the employees in the office.”
John Deere Canada won for the mid-sized fleet category. Of its 77 employees operating 67 power units and 230 trailers, 72 are professional drivers from CPC Logistics Canada. The fleet has a commercial vehicle operator’s registration (CVOR) violation rate of only 3.36 percent and an accident ratio of 0.17 accidents per 1 million kilometers.
“Communication is the key to our success,” Matt said. “From our onboarding process to the regular safety meetings we conduct, the numerous touchpoints we have with our drivers enable us to achieve our safety goals.”
During the PMTC Conference, CPC Business Development Manager Leanne Drummond was also announced as the chair of the PMTC Board of Directors. She is the first woman to hold this prestigious position.
“Leanne has been a part of the PMTC’s Young Leaders Group since 2019, and just served two years as the group’s chair,” said PMTC President Mike Millian in a news release. “Leanne has also been part of the PMTC Board since 2020. Leanne has been very active in the industry, as well as the PMTC, since she joined our association in 2019. Leanne has been a strong supporter of the PMTC. Leanne is very deserving of this great honor, and I look forward to working with her and the rest of the board moving forward.”
Additionally, CPC Dispatch Supervisor Carrie Scarselli, who has been working with John Deere Canada for six years, was honored with the 2024 Rick Austin Memorial Dispatcher of the Year Award. The award was established in 2018 to honor the memory of Rick Austin, a CPC dispatcher who passed away in 2017.
“When Carrie started, she quickly learned who all the drivers were, found common ground, and within months was a full-fledged teammate,” John Deere Canada said in a news release. “Carrie is always available to the office staff and drivers, ensuring she is available for support, whether it is early in the morning or late into the evening. She always takes the time to listen and has been instrumental in modernizing our processes, eliminating unnecessary paperwork for drivers [and] the shipping office.”
Congratulations to the CPC Logistics Canada and John Deere Canada teams, Leanne, and Carrie!
“We are so thankful for the drivers who power the John Deere Canada fleet,” Matt said. “Whether they have been driving for decades or weeks, everyone helped us get where we are with an unwavering commitment to safety.”
