Jeff started his driving career in 1983. In 40 years, he has accumulated more than 3.3 million safe driving miles. Jeff joined CPC in October of 2004. Since then, he has been an outstanding driver, amassing more than 1.5 million safe driving miles for the Walgreens fleet and remaining accident-free. He credits his safe driving to always being aware of his surroundings and using the Smith System keys every day.
Jeff’s attitude and professionalism have been important factors in his success. He offers several tips to his fellow drivers:
I treat everyone how I want to be treated. We all have a job to do, and we are all on the same team. It’s easier to work with people than work against them.
Represent the company in a professional and safe manner. The truck I am driving has the company name on it in big letters, so I always keep that in mind. I always conduct myself as if my manager or a Walgreens representative were in the passenger seat or driving in the car behind me.
Perform a good pre-trip inspection to make sure it’s safe to go down the road. Check that everything is working, nothing is hanging loose or leaking, and you are complying with DOT rules.
Be courteous while driving. Other drivers may do unsafe things on the road, but I stay focused and do not let it affect me negatively. It’s probably going to happen again, and unfortunately, it is out of my control. I can only control my actions, and I always try to be safe and do the right things since we are rolling billboards.
While Jeff enjoys the empty nest life, he’s still very family oriented and spends most of his downtime traveling to warm locations like the Bahamas and visiting his kids with his wife. Being outdoors, camping and fishing are a few activities Jeff and his family like to do together.
